Northern Lights – Dogsledge – Skidoo – Nature and city tours
Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq
Sisimiut is often referred to as Greenland’s Adventure hub – no matter the season, you will find a wide variety of exciting adventures for active travelers. In fact, adventure here is a way of life! You will see locals jumping on snowmobiles, dog-sleds, or bikes (depending on the season) to enjoy the expansive natural playground – and we encourage you to join them! One thing is mandatory though – you must love the outdoor life. Whether you are hiking in the mountains, enjoying a mini-cruise crossing the Arctic Circle, participating in the age old tradition of dog sledding, feeling the freedom on the mountain safari or being mesmerized by the Northern Lights – unforgettable encounters with the Arctic await you. Sisimiut in winter is white snow and bright lights – Northern Lights that is.

Day 3 – Dog sledge tour
Dog sledding is a classic way to experience Arctic nature. Spending 2 hrs. riding along with Greenlandic sled dogs is something you will never forget. They have a commanding presence with their shrill voices and thick winter coats that allow them to endure winter’s wrath.
The slower pace gives plenty of time to take in all the impressions and the rhythmic beat of dog paws against the ice and snow seems loud midst the pure silence of nature (can be extended to a longer tour)
Addittional tour: Tour with snowmobile
Sisimiut is a hot spot for snow mobile tours. The place has the largest accessible back country, and the mountainous area offers the possibility for tours with snow mobiles. The tour is a 2 hrs. snowmobile safari on the Sisimiut Highland Trail including the areas most exquisite vantage points; Top of Solbakken, the remarkable Aappilattorsuaq and the K6 Vantage Point.
The tour incl. 1 hr. briefing beside the 2 hrs. tour.
Day 4 – Winter Safari – Monster Sledge
Enjoy the stunning mountain landscape which surrounds Sisimiut in Greenland’s only snowmobile sleigh.
Nature is right outside our front door, and you will very quickly get a sense of the difference between civilization and the wilderness.
Experience it all on the Winter safari, while sitting comfortably in the monster sled and enjoying nature’s grandeur from the valley to the mountain top.
The route goes through the local Sisimiormiut’s winter playground. Here they do cross country skiing, go dog sledding and drive snowmobiles – and yet the area seems enormous and deserted. On the way back from the ski lift, we will stop at the plateau near the lake to enjoy the view over the city and David Strait.
On the tour there will be several stops, where there is plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the nature.
We end the wonderful day with a Traditional Greenlandic buffet in Restaurant Nasaasaaq.
