Day 1 – Welcome to Capital of Greenland
Arrival in world’s smallest capital; Nuuk – where your Greenlandic adventure starts.
After settling in, at your hotel, we go on a city sightseeing by car or bus which lasts 1½ hrs. The rest of the day can be spent on exploring the town, eventually with a walk to the charming old part of the city, colonial harbor where you also find the beautiful Cathedral of Greenland.
Day 2 – Historic day in the Capital of Tradition
We start the tour by spending 1 to 1½ hrs. at the National Museum, which houses a large collection of Greenlandic relics, such as mummies, kayaks, umiaks and ceremonial costumes. The museum lies in the old colonial harbor Walk through the old colonial area to the .ore modern culture can be experienced. We finish the tour with Greenlandic Tapas in Katuaq, culture house.
In the afternoon we go on at boat tour to Qooqqut for “Fish and Dish”. The tour starts with a one-hour journey through the Nuup Kangerlua fiord. We pass mountains with streaming waterfalls, and may spot a seal or a whale along the way. Before going ashore in Qooqqut, we fish for redfish and cod. These are given to the chefs at the restaurant where we have 3 hours to enjoy the fish as well as other delicious courses in the Qooqqut Nuan Restaurant. Arrival in Nuuk around 9 p.m.
Day 3 & 4 – Safari in Capital of Adventure and Wildlife
(Activity of choice) Hiking around Quassussuaq.
Today you can spend the day to explore the Nature in the Nuuk area. Join a guided hiking tour between the two mountains Quassussuaq and Ukkusissaq (or do the relatively easy hike on your own). This is a weekend favorite for locals hiking, mountain biking, skiing or snowshoeing, depending on the season. These mountains magnify the perspective that even the expanding capital city can be dwarfed by Greenland’s powerful nature. Beautiful coastal views during the whole hike.
At 8 a.m. we depart on a boat tour to the icefiord.
The tour goes to the bottom of the 80-kilometer-long fiord which is reached after around 2,5 hrs. depending on the ice conditions. Here with a great view over the glacier Narsap Sermia, we enjoy our lunch with the only sounds coming from breaking, cracking and dripping ice.
After lunch, the tour goes to the village of Qoornoq, a former fishing and hunting village now used for summer and weekend holidays. Here we spend a little time before heading back to Nuuk, passing a waterfall from the glacier Sermitsiaq along the way. The tour ends in Nuuk 3 p.m.
