14 km of scenic and tough terrain that includes the ascent of Ukkusissat Kangilequtaat (the highest peak of Nuuk area with almost 800 from sea to summit)
No previous experience is required, but only the physically fit should attempt this challenging peak to enjoy an unbeatable view of the city and the surrounding fjord system.
This circular route starts from sea level near the new jail (under construction) to cross the Paradise Valley with its coastline and alpine terrain with clear streams, small waterfalls and lakes to ascent Ukkusissat Kangilequtaat hiking and scrambling on steep terrain to ascent the mountain by a technical (but not extreme) and beautiful route to the top and its unbeaten views of the fiord system that surrounds Nuuk.
From the top, we descent to the lake Qallussuaq following the west summit ridge until we reach the less rugged terrain to descent to the big lake. From there we will follow the trail to Qinngorput (the new Nuuk area) where we will pick up and transfer by car to Nuuk downtown.
What to bring*: Day backpack (40 liters), waterproof jacket and pants, wool socks, base layer (pants and long-sleeved t-shirt (not cotton) fleece or thermic middle layer, an extra and warm but packable jacket for breaks and in case weather conditions turn colder), hat or similar (for example a buff to cover the head and specially the ears), warm gloves, sun cream, sunglasses, mosquito net, mosquito repellent and knife or multitool.
*If you don’t have balaclava, warm gloves we have some extra for you.
- Trekking poles, helmet

- Transfer from the tourist office and return.
Physical conditions: You should be in very good physical and mental condition and be physically active on a regular basis (2-4 hours per week).
Previous experience: The participant has to be familiar on hiking 15 km. per day on non-marked trails and mountain terrain carrying their personal equipment, and be able to scramble on a steep but not vertical terrain (over 600 meters of elevation gained).
