Old Colonial Harbour –National Museum – Kaffemik
The tour begins at the Tupilak office, and our first stop is the iconic Katuaq Cultural Center, the architectural heart of Nuuk and a hub for local art and culture. In the summer months, Katuaq often hosts exhibitions by Greenlandic artists, offering insight into the country’s vibrant creative scene.
From there, we walk past the Greenlandic Parliament, a symbol of Greenland’s modern self-governance, as your guide shares insights into political life and the country’s evolving identity.
The tour continues into the Colonial Harbor, where history comes alive. This picturesque area features colorful wooden houses that have stood for 200–300 years. Along the way, we’ll pass:

A short walk brings us to the open-air market, where locals sell freshly caught fish and seasonal meats like seal and reindeer — a window into Nuuk’s traditional food culture and daily life.
We then visit the Greenland National Museum, home to a rich collection of artifacts spanning from ancient Inuit cultures to modern Greenland. It’s a perfect place to deepen your understanding of the country’s unique history and heritage.
To round off the tour, we walk about 10–15 minutes to a local home, where you’ll be warmly welcomed for a traditional kaffemik – a Greenlandic social gathering centered around coffee, cake, and conversation. Enjoy the chance to connect with your host, ask questions, and hear firsthand stories about life in Nuuk today.
