Experience Aurora Borealis from Qoornoq with a professional photographer
Take a magical evening trip to the peaceful island of Qoornoq, where stranded icebergs, snow-covered cabins, and majestic mountains create the perfect setting for a Northern Lights photography experience like no other.
As darkness falls and stars fill the sky, we arrive at this quiet island, a place where icebergs line the shoreline, each one unique and perfectly placed as foreground subjects for your photos of the Aurora Borealis or a crystal-clear starry night.
Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or simply using your phone, a professional photographer will be on hand throughout the evening to help you get the best possible shots. You’ll get tips on how to shoot the Northern Lights, light up ice formations creatively, or simply capture a beautiful moment of yourself under the Arctic sky.
Qoornoq’s remote charm makes it ideal for night photography, with charming cabins, dramatic ice formations, and rugged mountains surrounding you on all sides.
We spend approximately 1–2 hours on the island, depending on weather and visibility. We strongly recommend dressing very warmly, as the coastal air can be cold, especially while standing still to take photos. The boat ride takes around 1.5 hours each way, and you may even spot icebergs drifting silently beneath the stars as we sail.
For those looking to get creative, bringing an extra light source (like a flashlight or headlamp) is a great idea for illuminating nearby icebergs or adding depth to your shots. And don’t forget to wear warm, waterproof boots — the ice is often right on the beach.
