Whale Safari
Sail through the stunning Nuuk fjord and enjoy a unique perspective of the colorful houses lining the shoreline from the water.
Our experienced captain and guide keep a keen lookout for whales, and with a little help from passengers, you might be lucky enough to spot one or two! Along the way, you’ll also see seals, icebergs, seabirds, and the breathtaking waterfall cascading from the Sermitsiaq Glacier.
We find that 3 hours is the ideal duration for a whale-watching tour in Nuuk, giving us the best chance to encounter these magnificent creatures. However, since whales are wild animals moving freely in their natural habitat, we cannot guarantee sightings.
The deep fjords—reaching depths of up to 600 meters—are perfect feeding grounds for the gentle giants of the sea: the humpback whales.
These remarkable whales travel thousands of kilometers each year, arriving in Greenland’s waters from June to September to feast on krill and small fish. They typically migrate from breeding grounds in Haiti and Puerto Rico during the winter.
Humpback whales can grow up to 15 meters long and weigh as much as 30 tons. Their most iconic feature is their magnificent tail, easily recognizable when they dive. Seeing these giants of the ocean up close is often described as a spiritual and awe-inspiring experience.
