Snow shoe hike in the backcountry
Join us on an unforgettable winter adventure as we explore the beautiful wilderness around Nuuk. Our guided snowshoe hike will take you from the heart of the city to the stunning viewpoint, which is known to the local snowmobilers as “The Descent”, where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Nuuk Fjord and its icy landscapes.
Our route will partially follow the snowmobile track, ensuring a safe and well-marked trail. As we hike through pristine snow, keep an eye out for wildlife tracks and enjoy the peace of the winter landscape.
The trail has an elevation gain of approximately 400 meters. But fear not – the stunning views that await you at the top will make every step worthwhile!
When we reach the viewpoint, we find a cozy micro shelter where we can rest, warm up and enjoy a hot drink as well as a well-deserved lunch, which you must bring yourself. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you sip your tea or coffee – the fjord stretches out in front of you, framed by snow-capped peaks.
The viewpoint at the “Descent” offers a great vantage point for photography enthusiasts. Capture the beauty of Greenland’s winter wonderland – the icy fjord, rugged mountains, and maybe even glimpses of local wildlife.
Important Note:
When you are going out on an adventure, it is highly recommended to bring both camera and binoculars.
