Old Colonial Harbour – National Museum
Join us for a guided walking tour through Nuuk that blends culture, history, and everyday life in Greenland’s vibrant capital.
The tour begins at the Tupilak office, from where we pass Katuaq Cultural Center, Nuuk’s architectural landmark and hub for modern Greenlandic art and events. During the summer months, local artists often exhibit their work here, offering a glimpse into contemporary Greenlandic creativity.
From Katuaq, we stroll past the Greenlandic Parliament, an important symbol of self-governance and modern political life in Greenland.
The walk then takes us into the Colonial Harbor, where colorful wooden houses stand much as they did 200–300 years ago. Your guide will share stories and history as we pass by:
-
The old whale blubber processing equipment
-
Hans Egede’s House
-
The Mother of the Sea sculpture in the tidal zone
-
And the statue of Hans Egede beside the historic church
Our final cultural stop is the Greenland National Museum, where you can explore unique artifacts from all periods and civilizations in Greenland’s history. It’s a must-see for anyone wanting to understand the depth and diversity of Greenlandic culture.
The tour ends back in the center of town, just steps from cafés, local boutiques, and great shopping opportunities.
